Enterasys Implements Paperless Licensing

In response to requests from our customers and partners, beginning April 29, 2013, Enterasys Networks will begin utilizing a new paperless licensing method in place of printed paper licenses.

Benefits of Paperless Licensing

There are many benefits to going paperless which include:

• No loss of paperwork with the Entitlement IDs through theft, misplacement, or
  accidental destruction

• One consolidated email for all licenses on a Purchase Order compared to the
   current seperate licensing documents

• Sales Order number and Customer PO number will now be displayed along with
   the Entitlements

• License entitlements can easily be rerouted to a new individual when personnel
   changes occur

• Going paperless is good for the environment!

How the Process Works

End customers will receive an email notification with the Entitlement IDs for each licensed option ordered along with the link to the portal where the entitlements can be redeemed to get the licenses.
All orders that include a licensed option will be scrutinized to assure that a valid email address is included so that the correct person gets notified. The entitlements will be included in the email body and not an attachment since many corporate email systems block attachments or caution employees to never open email attachments.
Please note that paper licenses for the Enterasys IPS product will continue to be provided. At this time, it is the only planned exclusion to the new paperless licensing.

Licenses will still be redeemed through “My Enterasys” on the https://extranet.enterasys.com site and this site can be used to track all licensed entitlements that a company may have purchased.

Opting Out

We understand that paperless licenses may not be suitable for all customers for a variety of reasons. We are happy to continue to use the standard paper process for any customers that wish to opt out of this paperless process.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your Customer Operations Representative or customerservice(at)enterasys.com.

End-of-Sales Announcement

Dear Partner,

Effective January 1, 2013, ETSI regulations require that access points detect weather or military radar within 5us and change channels accordingly. The new 37XX platforms support the new regulations, however, due to hardware limitations neither the 2600 nor 3600 Series are able to meet the new regulations. The regulations allow for manufacturers to ship inventory in stock before January 1, 2013, and while we still have plenty of 3610s in our Warehouse in Shannon, the inventory of 3620s built prior 2013 has been exhausted.  Although Enterasys will continue to build 3620s for shipping outside the EU, Enterasys will not be able to fulfill any orders of 3620 slated for the EU. If you have outstanding orders of 3620 please work with your Enterasys representative to discuss the following options:

1. Convert opportunity to 3610 if external antennas are not required
2. If sector or omni (except for dipole) external antennas are required
    consider the 3710e
3. If dipole antennas are required, Enterasys is working on accelerating the release
    of a future product that will support six dipole antennas

For the standalone APs (3630 and 3640), Enterasys will be disabling Band 2 and 3 of the 5GHz spectrum in order to meet EU regulations.  This will reduce the number of channels available for deployment, but unlike the 3620, there are no other options in the portfolio for standalone deployments.
